FAITH & SERVICE ROTATION

Due to restrictions on the size of gatherings, we cannot offer Mass for all of our students each week this year as we have in previous years.  Also, because of the challenges of the pandemic, the normal service hour requirements for our older students have become much more challenging for them to fulfill in the community.

Because it is still very important that our school provides an opportunity for students to have time to grow closer to God and to serve their neighbor each week, we have put in place a new faith & service rotation:

Lewiston Campus (5-Week rotation on Tuesdays, 8:00-9:00 AM):
  • Week 1: Mass at Holy Cross Church with Fr. Seamus and staff.
  • Week 2-5: In-class prayer and service activities organized by teachers that focus on the readings from the week and the liturgical season.

Fr. Seamus will also visit two classrooms each week on each Tuesday.

Auburn Campus Middle School (3-Week rotation on Wednesdays, 8:50-9:45 AM)
  • Week 1: Mass in the Commons with Fr. Seamus
  • Week 2: Small group sharing, Liturgy of the Word, and Journaling in the Gym, led by Assistant Chaplains.
  • Week 3: Service activities in classrooms organized in collaboration with Catholic Charities.

Auburn Campus High School (4-Week Rotation on Wednesdays, 10:45-11:35)
  • Week 1: Mass in the Commons with Fr. Seamus
  • Week 2: Small group sharing, Liturgy of the Word, and Journaling in the Gym, led by Assistant Chaplains.
  • Week 3: Service activities (Outdoor)
  • Week 4: Service activities (Indoor)

Morning Prayer

Lewiston Campus: Morning prayer will take place in individual classrooms at the beginning of the day and will be led by teachers.  Unfortunately, parents will not be able to join us for morning prayer this year because of the risk of transmission.

Auburn Campus Middle School: Morning prayer will take place in individual classrooms at the beginning of the day and will be led by teachers with input from students.

Auburn Campus High School: Morning prayer will take place in individual classrooms at the beginning of the 2nd period or the day and will be led by Assistant Chaplain teams with input from students.

Retreats

Retreats have been adjusted this year to conform to new guidance regarding Covid-19 prevention.  All activities, meals, and transportation will be carried out in accordance with this guidance.  Overnights are suspended and retreat schedules modified to reflect this change.  Retreats that normally take place at overnight retreat centers will be carried out either at the Auburn Campus or at a nearby location.  The number of parent volunteers participating at retreats will be limited, due to restrictions

Grades 6-12 Community Service Requirement

Due to the challenges of serving in the local community, community service hour requirements for each grade have been suspended for the 2020-2021 academic year and replaced with in-school service conducted during the Faith & Service Rotation.   For more information, please contact Fr. Seamus, our school chaplain.

Sacramental Preparation

Sacramental preparation will continue to take place in local parishes.  Use this link to find your Parish contact info.

December 4, 2020 - A Message from Prince of Peace Regarding Sacramental Preparation

Dear Parents,

We are pleased that you have made the sacrifices needed to send your children to Catholic Schools. We at the parish partner with the Catholic Schools to offer the Sacramental program for your children. Since your children have religion classes daily, the educational part of the preparation is provided by the school. However, the Sacraments are received in the parish. Therefore, you must enroll your children in the Sacramental Programs provided by the parish, which will include the retreats and a few supplemental items to complete their preparation.

The parish program instituted by the Bishop is a two-year program, which begins normally in the spring of the first grade and concluded in the fall of third grade.

An outline of the process is as follows:
