Saint Dominic Academy is a small, caring community in which the lessons of the Catholic tradition, including mutual support and service to others, are integrated with academic intensity. Caring faculty members serve as advisors for every student in their homeroom and meet with them on a daily basis. St. Dom's students come from communities throughout the state of Maine. Students have the opportunity to grow in the values of respect, character and service through their high school years.
Students take one complete religion class per year, but beyond this classroom work, they gain valuable life skills through the community service hours completed each semester, culminating in the senior involvement program. Weekly masses and retreats are also part of the experience that students are involved in. The Bishop of Portland appoints a chaplain celebrate the Sacraments of Eucharist and Reconciliation.
St. Dom's encourages every member of the school community to evaluate their relationship with God and to participate in the life of their local Church. Students wishing more information on the Catholic Church or what it means to be Catholic are encouraged to contact our chaplain or any member of the Religion Department.
